Art, however, through Fondazione Prada and the artist commissions she makes via Miu Miu, seems her way of doing so. Goshka Macuga reiterated last year’s Paris collaboration in New York, the Polish artist creating an immersive performance – underlying themes of feminism and violence – featuring characters from short films by the various female filmmakers Prada has previously commissioned. During Art Basel Paris, Prada turned to Helen Marten, allowing the British artist to branch out into performance. At the Fondazione Prada HQ in Milan there was an exhibition for Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu and a site-specific project by Hito Steyerl, while Rem Koolhaas’s AMO/OMA showed in the Venice venue; the Shanghai space hosted work by Lucio Fontana and Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Tokyo saw a collaboration between Danish movie director Nicolas Winding Refn and Japanese game creator Hideo Kojima.
