The Creative Industries Federation in the UK has penned an open letter to the UK government asking that they act to ‘implement urgent funding for the creative and cultural organisations impacted by the fall-out of COVID-19.’ The letter, addressed to the chancellor of the exchequer and the secretary of state for digital, culture, media and sport has been signed by over 400 people including artist Anish Kapoor, Tate director Maria Balshaw, actor Stephen Fry and other leading figures in the creative industries.

The letter was formed as part of the a result of research conducted by the Creative Industries Federation, which revealed that more than 50 percent of creative organisations and professionals have already lost 100% of their income and the same number have financial reserves that will last until the end of June.

Caroline Norbury, CEO of the Creative Industries Federation, said: ‘Whilst government support measures for businesses and the self-employed are welcome, we know that there are still thousands of creative organisations and freelancers who are falling through the gaps, and who simply will not get through this crisis without urgent cash support.’
